A MTV anunciou a lista de indicados ao MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023. As votações permanecerão abertas até segunda-feira (17/4) no site da premiação. A premiação será apresentada pela atriz Drew Barrymore, famosa por estrelar filmes como E.T. O Extraterrestre e Como se fosse a primeira vez.
A premiação será transmitida ao vivo, direto do Barker Hangar, em Los Angeles, no dia 7 de maio, na MTV e na Pluto TV, no canal MTV Pluto TV (157).
Entre os indicados, o filme Top Gun: Maverick e as séries Stranger Things e Last of Us empataram e foram as produções com maior número de categorias, com o total de seis indicações. O filme é uma reprise do filme Top gun (1986), com o retorno do ator Tom Cruise e aparição de novos personagens. A série Stranger Things tem tradição de participar em 3 edições e é uma das séries mais assistidas da plataforma de streaming da Netflix. A produção da HBO, Last of Us, é uma adaptação do jogo eletrônico de 2013 com mesmo nome que conquistou o público com o cenário pós-apocalíptico após uma doença fúngica tornar as pessoas em mortas-vivas.
O estúdio que promove o evento, Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios, é uma das entidade de mídia mais famosas, responsável por canais marcantes como MTV, Comedy Central, VH1 e Paramount Network.
